Beginning June 1, 2017, Seven Oaks Farms, in conjunction with Mississippi State University, is pleased to offer four unique equine internship opportunities to students who are required to have an internship in their major field:
Farm Maintenance Internship
Stable Hand Internship
Seven Oaks Farms, LLC has nearly 20 years experience breeding, raising, showing, trail riding and marketing the Tennessee Walking Horse (TWH) and Spotted Saddle Horse (SSH). Our farm has produced a World Grand Champion (WGC) or a World Champion (WC) spotted TWH in every flat-shod show division (Country Trail Pleasure, Traditional Trail/Country Pleasure, Trail Pleasure, Lite-Shod and Open Shod). Seven Oaks’ horses have been published in numerous equine publications including The Voice of the Tennessee Walking Horse, The Tennessee Walking Horse Sire Summary, The Walking Horse Report, The Scoop, Hoofbeats, The Spotted Saddle Horse Magazine, and The National Saddle Horse Journal. We maintain two Facebook pages (Seven Oaks Stables and Sir Oliver de Jose) as well as two websites siroliverdejose.com and sevenoaksfarms.com (currently under construction). Over the past several years, we have begun training some of our own offspring as personal pleasure trail horses here on the farm. The TWH is one of the smartest and easiest-going breeds to train and such a joy to ride. Since Mississippi State University is located in the heart of Quarter Horse country (including other trotting breeds) students rarely have exposure to farms with gaited horses. Currently, Seven Oaks owns 16 horses ranging in age from two to 32, six of which are WCs or WGCs. Several of those are being offered for sale to qualified buyers. We will be breeding a few mares to produce 2018 foals. Boarding for outside horses plus horse-lease options will be offered beginning in the fall of 2017.
Seven Oaks Farms, LLC holds the belief that we are to be faithful stewards and strive for excellence in ALL that we do. Our hope is to give students unique opportunities to join us in this endeavor during their undergraduate years at Mississippi State University and perhaps enjoy a little “escape” from typical university life. MSU students have first priority; however, students from other colleges and universities, high-schools or home-schools may be considered. Seven Oaks Farms, LLC reserves the flexibility to modify internship descriptions and/or dates.
